Recently, a teacher shared a lesson in the adult classes on the subject of salvation:
Aim
To bring the children to recognize their need for the Savior.
What you need
Three identical balls (like tennis balls)
Transparent cellophane paper
Opaque wrapping paper
A box large enough for one ball
Prepare in advance
Wrap the balls – wrap the first ball in the transparent cellophane paper, wrap the second ball in the opaque wrapping paper so that its shape and size can be seen as with the first ball, and place the third ball in the box and wrap the box nicely.
Focus
Lift the ball wrapped in the transparent cellophane paper and ask the children: What is it?
Lift the ball wrapped in the beautiful wrapping paper and ask: What is it? After they answer, remove the wrapping.
Lift up the third ball and ask: What is it? If they say a box, ask what’s inside the box, and then remove the wrapping and show them the ball.
Discover
Read together Romans 1.16-17.
In these verses we see a number of important points:
- The Apostle Paul says he’s not ashamed. What is he not ashamed of?
- Why isn’t he ashamed of the Gospel of Christ?
- Whom does the gospel of Christ have power to save?
Let’s go back to the demonstration we did at the beginning of class.
In the three cases, the basis of each wrapped package was the same. What was in each one? A ball.
This ball can be likened to us as human beings. God created us all with the same inner need, in all of us He planted the longing and the need for a personal connection with God. Although the coverings of our bodies are different, whether we are from Iran, Japan, Brazil, Tanzania or Israel, whether we are boys, girls, children, adults, inside we all have one basic need and that is the need for God.
What is that gospel that was mentioned in the verses we read? Open your Bibles to 1 Corinthians 15.1-4 and we’ll find out. Read the verses together.
What is that gospel according to these verses?
Yeshua died for our sins, was buried and resurrected on the third day and sits today at the right hand of God. He prepares for us a home there, in order to take all those who believe in Him. Talk to the children about the gospel. Elaborate as necessary.
Respond
God has placed this basic need for Him in all of us, also in you, and also in me.
Where are you in your relationship with God? Have you asked Him to forgive you of your sins and do you believe He has forgiven you?
If so, thank God! Tell everyone about this truth; it is a command that God has given us who believe in Him.
If the answer is no, you can do it now. God yearns for a personal relationship with you.
Continue to discuss this as the Lord directs.
